New Maryland is a picturesque village located in York County, New Brunswick, Canada, just south of the provincial capital, Fredericton. As of the 2021 Census, it had a population of 4,153 residents. ​

The village’s name traces back to a settler named Mr. Arnold from Maryland, USA, who arrived around 1817. Initially called Maryland or Maryland Hill, the area began to be referred to as New Maryland by 1825. Notably, New Maryland was the site of New Brunswick’s last fatal duel over two centuries ago, an event of significant historical and political importance. ​

Adjacent to Fredericton, New Maryland offers residents a blend of suburban tranquility and easy access to urban amenities. The village provides various recreational and leisure programs throughout the year for all age groups. The New Maryland Centre serves as a hub for community events, featuring facilities such as a large multi-use assembly hall, modern kitchen, and outdoor playground.
